The battle lines are drawn.

It's the "Have The Success Vision" vs "The Have The Socialist Vision."

Here's my slate choices: Herman Cain for President, Marco Rubio for Vice President.

Chris Christie should stay out of the race and become the dominant voice of All American Governors. Christie's message should be:

 "Elect more Governors like me and John Kasich. Let us work together with a new House and new Senate to help President Cain and Vice President Rubio to get America on the Fast Track To Success!"

I still think Hillary Cliinton will challenge President Obama. I spelled out my reasons in blogs about it on three occasions. Read 'em if you like.

PS: I'm writing in my Crimson Snuggie again. There is a chill in the air today because President Obama is coming to St. Louis. Fortunately the Cardinals are plyaing the Phillies tonight so his audience is competing with Alber Pujols and the Cardinal Nation.

I hope the waiters and cooks show up to serve his fund raiser. Cardinal flu has been known to hit even the hardiest among us.

The Thoughts Of One Ordinary Citizen On HOW TO STOP THE KILLINGS In St. Louis Today...Not Someday.

I asked an Alderman on facebook this question: "What is being done to STOP the killings in St. Louis now? What's the plan?"

Instead of getting a thoughtful answer, I was scolded by the Alderman, buck-passed to the Mayor and then ridiculed by the Alderman's facebook pals and personally attacked as "ranting" "unhelpful' "loon" among other things.

Okay, attack the messenger and the questioner - me. I have a hide like a Rhino.

I kept asking them - "What is being done to STOP the killings in St. Louis now? What's the plan?"

No answers came. Only more verbal criticism. And the Alderman went mute and MIA on the facebook exchange page. I guess he's only there to crow and be lauded. No serious questions please.

So, since the Alderman and his facebook pals didn't have any answers, I decided to take a whack at the issue and see how I'd try to answer the question: "What is being done to STOP the killings in St. Louis now? What's the plan?"

I'm very focused. I'll take the brickbats and the personal pot shots. The Alderman likes to crow about all he's doing - and he's doing many good things. I tip my hat to him. This is not about him or me. This is not a Northside or Southside or City or County issue. It's not about being black or white or brown or clear.

This is a transcendent issue for our entire HOMETOWN.

It is only about answering: "What is being done to STOP the killings in St. Louis now? What's the plan?"

As the Bud Light boys say, "Here we go!"

 1. The life safety of all area citizens – without exception - is Priority One.

 2. The Constitution speaks of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

 3. Anyone who imperils the life of any citizen also inhibits the citizen’s personal liberty and pursuit of happiness. That is a fundamental violation of Constitutional human rights.

 4. Street corner shootings, drive-by shootings and armed criminal violence is a major and growing problem that negatively impacts 18 and 19-year olds who are killing each other as they are killing the image and reputation of the entire Metropolitan area.

 5. No sensible person or family wants to live in any area where killings are a fact of daily life.

6. No business or organization wants to set up shop and work in any area where killings are a fact of daily life.

 7. No Police Department can be everywhere. 

8. All Police Departments need the help of every law-abiding citizen.

9. The full force of collaborative law enforcement extends beyond city boundaries and beyond the sole purview of local Police Departments - it must include the Federal Marshals Service,the DEA, IRS, the FBI and the licensing and revenue collection departments of all municipalities, counties and the State.

10. Before we can attract families and businesses to our great Metropolitan Area, we must have safe streets, safe modern neighborhoods with a variety of affordable homes, safe schools and quality teachers.

PART TWO: MISSION, STRATEGY AND TACTICS

MISSION: To Stop The Killings In The Metropolitan St. Louis Area Now by establishing a ZERO Tolerance initiative to permanently eliminate armed criminal action with particular emphasis on crime zones with an independently-documented history of having Murderers In Our Midst.

STRATEGY: To immediately deploy Collaborative Law Enforcement Actions Now (C.L.E.A.N.) in an approach that focuses the efforts of many different forms of law and ordinance enforcement as it simultaneously deploys new technology, ordinary citizens and public safety and government officials from many government departments.

TACTICS: To employ the full force of our Metropolitan Community and all of its law enforcement and ordinances, taxing and licensing authorities in a panoramic area-wide approach of Collaborative Law Enforcement Actions Now ( CLEAN ) to assure the safety of ordinary citizens by rapidly and permanently eliminating The Murderers in our Midst.

VISION: C.L.E.A.N. is the essential stabilizing activity necessary to prepare the ground space to create a safe climate, crime-mitigated environment and geographical space and opportunity for Urban Prosperity and Urban Progress (U.P.) to occur as led by the private corporate, entrepreneurial small business, educational and public sectors.

 PART THREE: LET’S MAKE A DEAL - THE CHOICES FOR THE CRIMINALS

Since ZERO TOLERANCE of thugs, crime, drugs and guns is a good idea for our Public, Private and Magnet schools, hospitals, public and government facilities and businesses, it will now become the policy and standard operating procedure on the streets and in every neighborhood, with special emphasis on high crime areas.

DOOR NUMBER 1: Come CLEAN - Become a law abiding HUMAN BEING – surrender your illegal unlicensed guns and immediately desist your involvement in all criminal activity.

18 or 19 or 40 is way too young to die. Make a CLEAN fresh start. If you need help we have plenty of agencies and programs and really good people available to help you rejoin the civilized community.

We will have a ONE WEEK long No Questions asked Gun Turn In Event. That will be your chance to give it up and man up. It is a chance to change your life and save your life. Guns would be turned in at any Community Center or to ministers in a community Sanctuary setting.

We sincerely hope that all current participants will avail themselves of this opportunity to make a sincere life change.18, 19, 24, 40 is way too young to die. There is a way out of the criminal lifestyle.

We will protect you from yourself and from your fellows and other competing criminals. We can’t guard every law-abiding citizen, but we can protect you from harm since you are at high risk to be killed or injured because of your DIRTY lifestyle.

In the simplest terms - CLEAN is good. DIRTY is bad.

THE MESSAGE TO THE MOST ENDANGERED PEOPLE IN OUR MIDST: THE CRIMINALS WHO HAVE A PROPENSITY TO GUN VIOLENCE.

PART FOUR: SOME SPECIFIC IDEAS WORTH CONSIDERING FOR THE UNREPENTANT OFFENDER WHO DECIDES TO STAY HERE AND PERSIST IN THE ENDANGERMENT OF GOOD PEOPLE:

1.HIGH BAIL JAIL - FULL CASH ONLY - for felony offenders. This will help end the “In-Out-Back-On-The-Street Revolving-Door” of easy breezy Bail Bonding. Support the tough love Judges.

2. LEGAL COUNSEL SPOTLIGHT - Publish photos and identify criminal attorneys on a special Citizen’s HOMETOWN Safety News website. We will do this as a public service should any citizen be so unfortunate as to have need for the services of an experienced criminal defense attorney.

We will develop a BOX SCORE to rate criminal defense attorneys  by a variety of legal metrics based on their number of cases, ability to effectively represent their clients and obtain plea bargains, releases and favorable outcomes. Folks need to know who these highly-skilled criminal defense attorneys are.

 3. If you violate any gun laws we will bring the full force of law enforcement to bear on you. If you want to exercise the citizen's right to keep and bear arms, you will need to comply with all laws and have a CLEAN legal record and legal gun registration permit and will have to take a gun safety course.

Any gun violation means prosecution to the fullest extent of the law and the seeking of maximum sentencing as prescribed by law. No plea bargains. No deals. ZERO Tolerance.

 4. If you are caught violating a law and are in possession of a large amount of cash that tests positive for drug residue or that is not attributable to taxable legal income activity, we will bring in the DEA, IRS and the Tax Collection Authorities of the local municipalities and the State of Missouri for a full investigation.

 Say, “Hello!” to the guys that got Al Capone.

 5. If you are identified as a POINT-OF-SALE of any retail thing or service, we will expect you to have all proper municipal vendor licenses and to pay all attendant fees and local sales taxes and the City Earnings Taxes.

 6. If stopped by the Police for any moving violation - and you decide to “gun and run with law enforcement” – that is a crime career-ending move.

 You are done. Finis. Kaput.

If you escape from a "gun and run" situation - keep running and when you get to the Atlantic, Pacific, Gulf of Mexico or Hudson’s Bay start swimming and don’t come back.

7. High Tech and High Touch: We will use Camera’s On The Corner to help protect you and other people in the area.

If we can observe Traffic Offenders and catch them for making an illegal right turn from Skinker into Forest Park on a remote surveillance camera, then we can certainly monitor the High Crime Corners and dispatch law enforcement officers to investigate any suspicious activity observed there or reported by the citizens to the Neighborhood Watch Hotline.

8. Operation Halo of Brotherly Love by the new SPU – we will create a 24/7/365 Special Protection Unit for people who are at high risk of being shot at by Murderers In Our Midst.

The SPU would be composed of highly-experienced and well-trained volunteers such as retired Police Officers and Police Reserve Officers, clergy and well-trained Ordinary Citizens who will work in round-the-clock 3-person teams to accompany you and keep you safe every day.

We will ask community groups, churches, civic organizations and businesses to “Sponsor SPU shifts” so as not to financially burden already fiscally strapped municipal or county budgets.

 We want you to stay safe and healthy and to be at liberty to pursue happiness.

We Love you...there is a way to a safe, good and productive life.

Think of your SPU as your personal band of Guardian Angels.

During my debate with the Alderman's pals, one man wrote:

"All I can do is keep my side of the street clean."

He is absolutely right. It starts with each one of us.

If we all adopt his positive attitude and make a CLEAN Sweep of crime on all sides of the street we can go from Broom Town to Boom Town.

St. Louis' best and brightest days lie ahead, of that I'm sure.

Top 20 SRHB x 100 = 2000 volunteers/4 people = 500 Trinity Units on the Streets

3000 volunteers in The Legion minus the 2000 volunteers deployed to the Top 20 SRHB areas leaves 1000 volunteers or 10 Centurys in reserve for Mobile Units, assignment to other SRHBs or for a Reserve Relief Volunteer Pool to supplement the 500 Trinity Units deployed.

2920 8-hr. shifts per SRHB divided by 1 Century (100 people) = 29.2 - 8 hr. shifts per volunteer per year (233.6 hours/volunteer/year). A little less than 30 days of annual commitment.

HOW TO ORGANIZE A TRINTY UNIT

 Each Trinity Unit has 4 people – 3 on-shift duty volunteers with 1 reserve/alternate

I want to invite 2 retired city policemen and 1 retired Episcopal priest to join me to form the “Salt, Pepper, Sugar and Spice – Everything’s Nice Trinity.”

Charter Rule I. This is an all ordinary citizen organization – no politicians in charge.

Volunteers will be trained and organized with the assistance of a collaborative alliance drawn from existing community organizations, private sector businessses, the area clergy, the St. Louis Police Department, FBI, DEA and Federal Marshalls.

The organization will select its own Centurion and Legion leadership from a slate of nominees and elected to 2-year terms by secret ballot. They will select an ad hoc committee to write the formal Charter of Organization and Principles.

The organization will become 3000 eyes and ears on the streets of St. Louis - "Neighborhood Noticers" deployed to protect the most high risk people in the most high risk neighborhoods.

2) VOTER ENFORCED TERM LIMITS - unelect everyone in the U.S. Congress - Republican, Democrat, Vegetarian, Rastafarian and Fruitcakian. Toss 'em all O-U-T out!

3) Eliminate the Professional Political Class - destroy the network of lobbyist-perk-corruption-payoffs and dismantle the nests the DC-PECers have feathered with our taxes. (PEC = Political Elite Class)

4) Cut Congressional salaries -  by 20% until unemployment is below 4%

5) Cut all Federal budgets - across the board by 5% in each of the next 5-years

6) Freeze all Federal hiring for 5-years - learn to do more with less like business has done

7) Hold politicians REGULARLY accountable - make them have Town Halls twice a year - NOT just in election years. One term may be too many for some.

8) Make politicians open their books - full disclousure of Personal Financial Statements for wives too...no hiding the do-re-mi in others' pockets

9) Defeat legacy political families - no more Kennedys, Carnahans, Bidens, Bushs or Cuomos.

10) No politician may serve more than 2 consecutive terms - like Cincinnatus of Rome citizens should serve their nation then return home to their real jobs.

11) No more open ended political pensions - same as an IRA, they contribute to it and it is not a lifetime GRAVY TRAIN.

12) No more 'self-regulating' Congressional trials by their "peers" - arrest the tax evaders, scofflaws, vote sellers, influence peddlers and grifter grafters -- and after a fair trial by ordinary citizens, toss them in jail, if found guilty, just like you and me.

There you have it.

If my beliefs, values, passions and views drive business away from me. So be it.

I love Lewis Black.

He cracks me up.

I love his comedy...his physical persona...his panache and elan...his dissheveled, yet somehow oddly tasteful, wardrobe that is reminscent of a drunken Funeral Director after a night on the town in Reno at the annual Embalmer's Convention.

He is as far out on the acidically angry loopy looney LEFT, as I am on the informed and impeccably correct and righteously angry RIGHT.

Back in February, I began sending Lewis Black's publicist, Glenn Schwartz a series of emails to see if I could get Lewis Black interested in helping the people in Haiti, who had just had their country knocked flat by a huge earthquake.

I challenged Lewis Black to a mano y mano  Left vs. Right faceoff starring Lewis Black aboard a Caribbean Cruise Ship, with me, a poor simple Midwestern Schmoo as his foil - Lewis Whyte.

Lewis Black would just be his angry-Andy Rooney-look-alike, irrational ranting Left Leaning-self and I would be Lewis Whyte, my smooth and sagacious alter ego representing the ribald rational Right.

Lewis Black can stride the Cruise ship stage ranting and raving like Captain Queeg-Bligh-Black.

I would serenely roll onto the stage in a Country Club Golf Cart sipping a Grey Goose Gibson. (This is a great sponsorship opportunity for this wonderful vodka)

If Lewis Black drinks EFFEN Vodka, which is likely given his propensity to say the "EF-word," then we might have dueling vodkas too...with the audience participating in a multi-shot "taste test."

In a nightly "Stand-Up and Rant vs. Sit Down and Shut Up" - Left vs. Right - match for the ages, we would each tackle the following topics in alternating you-go-first-positions, in point-counter-point style.

1. Illegal aliens - the new Arizona Law makes that a hot topic

2. Glenn Beck - Lewis thinks he has "Nazi Tourette's"

3. Barack Obama and the 40 Czars - I think they are Commies to the Core

4. How to deal with problem nations: Iran, Afghanistan, North Korea and Alaska

5. Best Blind Date: Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Sara Palin, Joy Behar, Elizabeth Hasslebeck or the incredibly sexy/brainy Greta Van Sustren- in our dreams, or nightmares?

6. Topic du Jour - selected by the audience from the news of the day.

Then we'd open up to take LIVE UNSCRIPTED questions from the audience.

It would be great fun. The entire Cruise ship would sell out in no time flat! And we could tape Cruisin' For A Bruisin'  for a Comedy Central Special and for a DVD-release.

It would also go a long way to help keep the Haitian crisis in current public consciousness and raise some serious money to help the folks there who have lost so much.

But it is now mid-May and I haven't even had the common discourtesy of an explitive-filled negative response from Glenn Schwartz, Publicist to my personal idol the great kosher comic genius Lewis Black.

Maybe Lewis is still contemplating my challenge/offer? 

Or, must I sadly conclude that something has gone awry, amiss or terribly wrong with Lewis Black KKK (Kooky Kosher Kibbitzer)?

Why hasn't Lewis Black responded? Here are the possibilities of which I could think --

1) Lewis Black is simply afraid of the razor sharp rapier-wit of yours truly. I suspect that Lewis knows - that in an unscripted, unplugged and tele-prompter free venue with live questions from the audience - that I would make a schmear of chopped liver out of him.

2) His publicist Glenn Schwartz has been short-stopping my emails and keeping The Cruisin' For A Bruisin' challenge from Lewis Black's limited-attention span and fragile ego.

4) Lewis is just a pretentuous portly progressive poltroon or a pompous puffed-up poppin' jay, who is too boorishly rude and unschooled in manners to even tell me to go EF-myself. I also sent him my phone number in this size type to facilitate contact with me 24/7.

5) Lewis Black knows that I can think better and faster sitting on my big fat butt than he can rationalize, rant and rave on his feet. Lewis Black simply realized that he would be intellectually over-matched and wanted to spare his fragile ego and well-deserved low self-esteem any further trauma and/or reaffirmation...especially at the hands of a simple Midwest Schmoo like me.

6) Lewis Black is totally booked through 2055, or he's tragically ill, M.I.A. at Mustang Ranch et al or too stuck up*** to take on the razor-sharp wit, rapid-fire repartee and devastating physical charisma and charm of the old Birkster.

7) Lewis Black gets sea sick.

8) Lewis Black does not like WASPs (Witty American Schmoo Patriots) like me.

9) Lewis Black's Mom and Dad won't let him come out and play, because he might get hurt.

10) Lewis Black has forsaken comedy to become "The Rantin' Rabid Rabbi" - the Jewish equivalent of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

I was listening to overnight radio on my recent trip to San Francisco. I tuned in to KOA and heard a very interesting commercial for "The California Edition Volkswagen Jetta."

The commercial was a dialogue about this special edition Jetta that was available ONLY in California.

The entire commercial was an exchange between an inquiring customer and a responding sales person.

The customer would ask a question:

Does it have a CD-player?

The announcer would answer: Yes and it's FREE!

Does it have custom alloy wheels?

Yes and they're FREE!

Does it have an all leather interior?

Yes and it's FREE!

You get the picture.

The entire spot went on to make the point that "The California-edition Jetta" was loaded with all kinds of FREE GOODIES available ONLY in California.

BUT HERE'S THE KICKER LINE THAT I BELIEVE COULD BECOME THE NEW MOTTO OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA - AND WITH A JUST A LITTLE TWEAKING IT COULD EVEN REPLACE - E pluribus unuum and In God We Trust.

At the end of the commercial the announcer said, "The California Edition Jetta is loaded with FREE goodies because this is California where you can get whatever you want without paying for it?

Wow!

What more can I say?

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the bars, Mark Bruno and his brother,The Other Bruno, have turned their qualnt, quiet and venerable Bruno's American Grille and Pub into ground zero for The St. Louis Area's Finest St. Patrick's Day Party Held 3-Days After St. Patrick's Day.

It's a tradition at Bruno's NOT to compete with the HUGE St. Pat's Day event held a few hundred miles to the south in Rolla, Missouri. It is the weekend when The Knighting Ceremony is held and back in the ancient pre-PC days, a dip in The Alice Vat was par for the course.

Nope. Not for a nano-New York second.

I believe in the creative power and inherent genius of the American People. I've seen it up close and personal every single day of my entire life on this planet and, right now there is a new and powerful wind of hope and change blowing across the land.

BUT...

It isn't the synthetic methane Hope and Change brand that is blowing out of Wishy-Washington, PC-DC.

It isn't an Alberta Clipper dipping down from above Yellow Knife.

It isn't a tornado sweeping Dorothy and Toto up in a Kansas whirlwind.

It isn't the wind they call "Maria" - that spins the blades on West Texas wind farms.

It isn't the kind of wind you can track on NOAA.

Does America have problems? Yep, and most of 'em are man made. If you'll do your homework...it's pretty clear who the problem-makers are.

Is the end in sight?  Yep, because the ordinary American citizen is wide awake and on the move.

Is The New York Times right?  Nope, but it does have a swell Crossword Puzzle especially on Sunday. And this Sunday's was really hard...but, my wife, Loring polished it off in about 2-hours. She did 99.5% and I closed the door with the obscure words.

With apologies to a raspy-voiced harmonica player named Bob Zimmerman out of Duluth, Minnesota, when it comes to solving America's problems, "The answer my friends is blowin' in the wind..."

But isn't an external wind.

It's the powerful internal, invisible and inexhaustible wind of God-given freedom, liberty, independence and personal opportunity that fans the flames of America's entrepreneurial and spiritual genius.

My pal, the estate planing and tax guru, Jeff Smith, summed it all up quite succinctly in his simply brilliant and brilliantly simple new book, entitled: B. I. G.

Jeff hit the nail on the head in just three words that describe a new generation of American entrepreneurs. B as in Bold, I as in Innovative and G as in Generous.

Bold - American's have that BOLD-gene in our dna. Our ancestors were not made of sugar-candy. They lived bold and took a B.I.G. bite out of the apple pie of the American deam. We're already on the way. And we keep coming by looking beyond just the daunting immediate needs.

That would leave an opening and a "wonderful opportunity" for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on the Democrat ticket as Vice President in 2012.

She is too smart to ride The Obama "Hope and Change" Express into the wall at the train station wall.(Remember the movie, Silver Streak).

She has already "Stood by her man." Been there done that. And, Obama ain't Bill.

I think Hillary will wait for Obama to bungle some international event like Iran or North Korea and she'll openly disagree with him and that will force him to fire her.

Perfect...now she's distanced herself and has a clear field to position herself as the "Savior of the Democrat Party" as "The Anti-Palin."

See my past blogs...October 2, 2009 notably...I'm revising it slightly. I now see the potential for Hillary to beat Obama at the Convention for the nomination. 

But Secretary Clinton has to distance herself sooner rather than later...sooner is a parting based on Principle...later is a rat jumping ship.
